Evans: Commensalism

King Vulture, also known as Sarcoramphus papa (found at 41.78398, -71.41874), often makes the initial tear through a carcass so that other vultures with less powerful beaks can feed when it has finished. This shows commensalism because the other birds are benefitting from the King Vulture, but the King Vulture itself is not affected.
The American Bison, Bison bison (found at 41.783989, -71.41874). Many native species, such as the black-footed ferret, prairie dogs, and burrowing owl depend on the herds of bison to maintain the grassland habitat.
