Raissipour: Plant Adaptation for a Specific Environment

The prickly pear, opuntia humifusa, is a type of cactus that adapts to the dry climate area from its origin by having a thick waxy outer protective to retain water. The prickles on it also help it in keeping parasites away from hurting the plant by eating it and opening up the water retention.
