Zhang: Plants using animals for seed dispersal

American Red Squirrel

Tamiasciurus hudsonicus

Squirrels are used by plants for seed dispersal
because they bury acorns, nuts, and seeds from
trees (ex: conifers, spruce, pine, fir, etc.) in
various places in order to store them for the
winter. However, some of the buried seeds are
not retrieved later and they grow into new plants.
