Krishnan: Animal Adaptation for Specific Environment

The Black and White Lemur (*Verecia veriegata*)(bottom picture) has opposable  thumbs both hands and feet which is a necessary adaptation for surviving in its forest  habitat. It can use these to grab on to branches and to hold on to its main source of food: fruit/ vegetable.

The Bactrian Camal (*Camelus bactraianous*) has two humps on  its back which strore fat. This is a necessary adaptation for surviving in the arid condition of the its desert habitat. The fat can sustain the camel for long periods of time when food or water is not available to consume.

Both organisms are found at South Wick Zoo (42.0647272,  -71.580996).
